Fede Ring

A Fede ring is a historic ring design featuring two hands clasped together.

The design derives from the Italian phrase mani in fede, meaning “hands in faith”, and has traditionally been associated with loyalty, friendship, love and marriage.

Fede rings have existed in various forms for centuries, with examples dating from the medieval period through to later antique and vintage jewellery. The clasped hands can be represented simply or incorporated into more elaborate settings featuring gemstones, engraving or other decorative details.

The design is particularly interesting to collectors because of its long history and strong symbolism. Fede rings are often associated with commitments between two people and can therefore have particular significance as engagement or wedding rings.
